Fasting & Heightened Senses

It's like upgrading your senses from normal to superman... I just noticed that I'm exploring new levels of smell, its like being introduced to a whole new world of aggravated senses... Could it be related to fasting, maybe?! but then again maybe not, I guess I just made the connection today when I smelled coffee in the office... A faint but vivid pleasant smell and I don't even like coffee...
A few incidents swept through my mind, the extra strong perfume in the elevator... maybe it wasn't that strong in the first place... The "repulsive beyond reason" cigarette smell in the car from yesterday's night out...
Flashbacks everywhere, dots connected Ramadan and fasting is altering the way my body functions and it feels like being in a mysterious adventure in the middle ages...

Now vision is a whole different story, I wish I could say I can now see a needle a few miles ahead, but its something else... I can capture so much detail in a single glimpse, its like zooming and printing a copy in memory... neat ha!

Aaaah Taste, no need to say anything about that, the first drop of water that refreshes a dry mouth is something else... with every bite of food a few million neuro-cells celebrate the sensation....

Now hearing and touch, are the two senses I have to start observing deliberately... cause no improvement is there yet :)

Then again, I think I should go back to this morning in detail, I couldn't get out of bed, arrived at work around 40 minutes late... And the minute I woke up my right arm was completely numb, I couldn't even feel or move it for a few minutes, without the help of the left hand, it felt like carrying a log around... So much for superman...

Anyone else feels this way...

Definitely! I've been sitting here at my desk for the past half hour just sniffing and making rabbit movements with my nose. I can smell EVERYTHING. Perfume, coffee, tea, sweat, fries, a labaneh sandwich, strange hand cream or lotion and a nature smell wafting in from the open window. Basically I'm going crazy I think. This is, without doubt, the HARDEST RAMADAN of my life....why!?!?!?

Ok sorry, I can't stop complaining :D Still, I would give up all these Superman powers for just ONE cup of coffee! I WOULD!

I'm not much of a coffee fan, but I sure get the idea...

When you have such a prolonged period of hunger your body kicks into 'survival mode' and part of that is that you have more sensitive senses-like smell which I've definately noticed because your body is trying to help you detect food, make sense?

I did the master cleanse diet (aka lemonade diet) where for 10 days you only drink lemonade and salt water and my sense of smell was so heightened it was hard to go to places like the mall because I kept feeling like I was going to throw up.

Asoom,
I loved the idea of "survival mode" I felt so primitive LOL... and even a bit robotic...

on a side note, you should get a trophy for the lemonade and salt thing... That's pure torture!
