Just to see Egypt's side of this when they said that the next time they won't allow the "sanctity" of their borders to be broken like this. They had found some of their newfound guests didn't stick to Rafah to get suppplies, but snuck in Deep inside Egyptian terretory.

What if some of them (it only takes a handful) for example attacked Israel from across the egyptian border crossed back into egypt, and dug in ? Israel is going to chase them.

It's reminiscent of when Hizbollah took those IDF soldiers prisoner. Was what they accomplished worth all the dead Lebanese people (civilians or otherwsie), all the destroyed infrastructure. I wonder. How much trouble are you willing to get into for an uninvited guest with whom your only link is religion, language and history, but not blood ?

Hani,
This logic is exactly what caused this continous detoriaration...

We have an enemy who is exploiting us as individuals... we can choose to watch our people suffer and think of our own well being...

I don't think this is the right approach, I wonder where you will stand if such a thing happens in Jordan and the rest just watch...

And by the way only link is religion, language and history!!! the word "ONLY" is soooo not in place...

This is what makes a nation...

I will stand where I belong, with my family.

I'm sorry but Arab Nationalism is just a dream now. Arab states haven't been a single nation for longer than anyone alive can remember. A lot of them are barely stable as a nation right now.

mkilany, imagine a rabbit attacking a tiger, and then running to a kitty-cat to help him. You are asking for the kitty-cat to attack the tiger.
M Kilany
I'm not asking a kitty cat to attack a tiger, I'm asking a lion to wake up and know its potential...
As for being one nation I know we are divided today, but throughout history there were times when it was hard to know how many states were there...
We still remain one nation; you choose to believe the fake borders a westerner drew... I choose to believe that my grandfather was born in Syria, my father in Na’ur, my mother in Nables, my great grandfather in Iraq... Its proof enough for me... What binds us is much more than a few dotted lines on the map...

A lion compared to who ?

It's not my choice, i was born after the fact. Yes a westerner did the borders, but the reason they remain is that each leader won't let go of their chair, and the pattern has held.

Do you want a remider of the last time someone tried to shove Arab Nationalism down another nation's throat ? His name was Saddam, and that naiton was Kuwait.

or maybe you want the peaceful approach ? Egyp and Syria tried that, and they found they like power too much. This is why i call it a dream, because it is most unlikely to happen.

Hani,
We will always stand on opposite sides on this and other issues...

It's a dream because the reality of our current political situation is so far different from the fact that we are one nation...

I believe that we are one nation, regardless... my heart breaks every time I see an Iraqi kid wasted in the streets... my blood boils every time I see an old Palestinian woman stranded on an Israeli checkpoint...

We are one nation, regardless of the borders... One day, the borders will be part of history... they will be irrelevant, I just hope I'll live to see that day...

If tommorow Jordan is divided into two different countries and a fake fence is drawn this does not mean that there are two different nations on the land... its as simple as that... It makes no difference if it's two countries, 23 different flages or more... its still one nation...

Hani Obaid
Absolutely, the disagreement was on the possibility of us becoming a single nation, not on the will for such a unity.

Still, this does not mean that all the inhabitants of unstable arab countries should go and live off their stable neighbours. Otherwise we will all fall together.
