On Why Jordanians Live Longer?
Ever since that article hit the Jordanian Media and some blogs, I just couldn't find a decent explanation up until all was revealed today... It suddenly became obvious, how could I have been so blind!! maybe I got lucky and just as fasting has heightened other senses, this time it's the turn of "Thinking" and brain cells are at peak performance... you'll be the judge of that..
The SECRET of Grocery, every parent, child, man or woman is a grocery weight lifting champion in Jordan but that's only part of the secret, another one lurks in complex maneuvers and techniques mastered in generations... Just pass by the Safeway or any place that sells vegetables or fruit and you will see those heavy bags and cartoons hanging from firm unyielding fists...
Each fist firmly holds 7-10 nylon bags of heavy grocery.... arms and muscles from head to toe quite stretched at some points and quite stressed at others...
oooh the long walk to your car... then from car to home... and never forget the skillful maneuvers only Jordanians can perform after years and years of disciplined practice from early childhood... that's when you take out the keys and open the door without releasing your perfectly balanced grocery grip... Unbelievable strength, so subtle yet so powerful and time saving when performed accurately...
If you're not Jordanian, you might be fooled by the seemingly simple maneuvers, so casually performed in our streets and homes... You might be tempted to do it yourself and only then you will be exposed to full chaos, so disastrous if simple objects are at stake and a complete tragedy if eggs and watermelons are involved... for that, has an art of it's own...
Every part of your body functions in complete harmony to get that door wide open... Some movements are only seen by a keen eye when filmed in slow motion... The key element in that maneuver, includes a subtle but decisive tap with the waist, others may choose a more obvious kick but this also requires a great deal of "one-leg" balancing and impeccable timing...
Now, that's grocery "life-sustaining" fitness at its best :) and don't get me started on the super heavy book lifting for school kids...

then once you get in the taxi, you still have to maintain the grip with both hands and somehow manage to pay the driver.
All the time risking the bags getting torn and your groceries ending up all over the floor !
